Employers and Job Seekers do not speak the same language!

I have always been amazed to hear employers say they can’t find the right skills, and Job Seekers say they can’t find the right Job. These two sides of the job market constantly come across one another but struggle to connect. That’s because they do not think the same way and do not speak the same language!

I do not say this in a negative way of course but having worked as a Recruiter for many years, I sat between job seekers and employers and spent my time “translating”.

In fact this is so true that the first thing that we teach in this company is that recruitment is about “translating”.

  • We “translate” Job Seekers experience into what Employers are looking for: Data, figures, jargons and Achievements (the Employer’s language).
  • And we “translate” an often times unexciting Employer’s vacancy into a fantastic Career Opportunity (The Job Seeker’s language).

For example, when writing his or her CV, a Job Seeker rarely knows what employers are actually looking for in that CV…  And we know that CVs are sent by millions every day and only a few get contacted…

At the same time, Employers complain about the lack of “skills” and are surprised when no one “suitable” applied to their Job online. Err… that might be because Job Descriptions are often boring, complicated and lifeless… (Sorry but it’s true). As a result, Job Seekers rarely read them…

In this series of free career tips, we intend to reveal what most job seekers have no idea about.
All you’ll need is an open mind and a few tweaks here and there to fast track your career and land the job you deserve, a higher pay and career fulfillment.
